I started developping Yayi from scratch after having defended my PhD at the Mathematical Morphology Centre of the Paris School of Mines (where I developed Morph-M/Morphee).
Yayi answers to some limitations of Morph-M:
- At the exact opposite of Morph-M, Yayi is free to use, free of charge, suitable for commercial uses, patent free and without any intrusive licence (thanks to Boost).
- Yayi is my own product, so if I decide to release it under a convenient licence, no one can tell me not to do so !
- Yayi aims at being much faster than Morph-M for structuring element based algorithms by using much smarter concepts for structuring elements.
- Yayi uses multiple cores (what Morph-M natively was not designed for).
